For those who like to get a better experience from their iPad, the different game apps out there may only offer a variation of the same experience. It may take a different app to give users the unique experience that they look for. Those who look for such apps may want to check out the Book of Sarth iPad app for a change.

The Book of Sarth iPad app is not a game app but a unique graphical album. It comes with an 8-song experimental album as well as an 80-page animated graphical novel. A 30-minute portion of the app allows users to direct their experience by reordering the sequence using touch. It offers both a different visual as well as an audio experience unlike any other game app out there. The Book for Sarth is an iPad app for those who are looking for a more unique experience. It is available at the App Store for US$8.

Is This When a Cheap iPhone Will Finally Release?

How does an unlocked $200, brand new iPhone sound? Well if it sounds too good to be true, it just might be. New reports from analysts are suggesting that Apple could venture into the affordable territory in order to boost market share in territories like India and China.

According to Yahoo!, analyst Gene Munster predicts that Apple could be in the business of potentially trying to gain more market share in countries where majority of the residents can’t afford their products.
Munster is suggesting that given market trends Apple may unleash a $200 iPhone handset to capture large markets with low income, but he doesn’t think they’ll just repackage something like the iPhone 4 and call it a day.

For now it’s just a speculative rumor, but it’s not unlikely for Apple to consider this route given how big both China and India are and how much they could make selling unlocked phones a mass group of people who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford them.

iPhone 5S Chip Possibly Outed

With rumors running rampant about a new iPhone and iPad due out in mid-2013 from Apple, it has led many to speculate what kind of hardware will be powering the new-gen handsets.

According to the iPhone 5 News Blog, the iPhone 5S – the recently rumored phone set to launch in mid-2013 along with a new iPad – could do away with any modified A6 chips and instead could go the beefier route with a brand spanking new A7 chipset.

The reasoning behind this maneuver is that since the iPhone 4S sported A5 chip and the iPhone 5 sported the A6 chip, it’s less likely to see an A6X chip in the next iPhone but instead, a full-fledged upgraded A7 chip instead. There’s no hard evidence to back any of this up other than speculation, but it will be interesting to see what Apple rolls out for their next handsets in 2013.

Speaker Dock Launches For iPhone, iPad

A new lightning compatible speaker dock has launched for Apple’s mobile devices, with a special two speaker dock available for the iPhone 5 and a slightly larger dock available for other iOS powered devices, including the iPod and iPad.

As stated in the press rlease on Business Wire, the JBL OnBeat Micro is designed to give your iPhone 5 or iPod Nano a nice steady home with up to five-hours of playtime via battery or indefinite use when plugged up and working as a lightning compatible charging station.

The JBL OnBeat Micro carries a $99.95 price tag where-as the larger and more versatile JBL OnBeat Venue Lightning goes for about $199.95 and supports iPads, iPhones and iPod Touch handsets.

If you’re looking for a speaker dock for your Apple devices that’s lightning compatible, this wouldn’t be a bad way to go about it.

WalMart Sells iPhone 5 For Only $127

Despite the nascence of the iPhone 5 and it’s newly cemented dominance on the market after arriving in mid-September of this year, some brick and mortar stores are already discounting the expensive high-end handset. Wal-Mart is currently selling iPhone 5 handsets for only $127 and it’s causing some market analysts to panic…just a little bit.

According to the L.A. Times, the drop in price for the iPhone 5 may not be a good thing for Apple in the long run. While the $127 price tag sure looks more financially delectable for the frugal shopper, the drop from the $199.99 price point has some analysts thinking that maybe the handset isn’t quite as hot as we’re led to believe.

In fact, a UBS analyst lowered the forecast throughout 2013, expecting Apple to sell 5 million fever iPhones than originally estimated.

I don’t think a few brick and mortars trying to cash in on the iPhone craze with price cuts will challenge Apple’s momentum all too much given that people are still trying to get their hands on the iPhone 5 any way they can.

Man Gets iPhone Stolen While Walking Down Street

How often do you walk down the street listening to music on your iPhone? Well, one man was doing just that and he had his iPhone stolen right from under him.

Cambridge, Massachusetts, a man from Somerville was walking down Irving Street when he was struck on the back of the head twice, as reported by Cambridge’s own Wicked Local.

After being struck twice, the man turned around and realized that a young assailant, possibly in his late teens or early twenties, with a stocky build and a beard, was aiming to grab his iPhone. The assailant beat on the victim a few more times and then snatched the iPhone and the ear-buds, running away with the victim’s music and his mobile handset.

Police have yet to apprehend the suspect, so it’s likely that he may strike again if you’re in the Somerville area.

Weather Alerts Now Available For iPhone 5

The US National Weather Service will now issue alerts that will automatically appear for the iPhone 5 for those who have one, a feature that was absent from the handset in the past.

According to TUAW, the NWS didn’t originally support the iPhone smart devices but that all changed today when the alert for a Blizzard in the Denver, Colorado area came through loud and clear for the iPhone 5, letting the smartphone owners know that a weather alert was in effect.

Previously, iPhones weren’t supported by the US National Weather Service mobile alert system, and it certainly did put iPhone users at a disadvantage during weather emergencies. Having the ability to be warned about weather alerts is a great service for iPhone users to have.

3D iPhone Skull Case Becomes a Hit

The latest trend in iPhone case designs is a new 3D skull case inspired by Hugo Arcier and 3D sculpture prints and it looks phenomenal.

The Skull from Arcier, as noted by Gizmodo, is available for the iPhone 5 and brings more than just a standard, dolor-looking case mod to the table. The skull design is actually protuberant from the case itself, so you can feel the curves, edges and jagged ridges of the skull shape just as it appears in the image.

There’s also a second skull case that is based on a face algorithm, which portrays a more abstract and polygonal design as opposed to the more realized skull shape as pictured in the image above.
You can grab the 3D skull iPhone case for only $52.25 from 3D Printer Case.

True Bamboo iPhone 5 Case on Sale at Amazon

Amazon has knocked down the price and knocked off a few dollar bills from Boxwave’s True Bamboo iPhone 5 case, which is unsurprisingly made of real bamboo.

The case originally goes for $44.95. However, Amazon, out of the goodness of their hearts and the warmth of the holiday season – and because they’re really looking to stay in the black throughout this final quarter of the year – have marked down the popular True Bamboo case, which has been specifically designed for the iPhone 5 to the moderately low $24.95.

The two-piece case set has a velvet lining to protect your iPhone 5 from scratches and physical bruises. The case is also eco-friendly (because it’s made of real bamboo, of course) and fits perfectly around your iPhone 5 just like in the picture above.'

You can grab the Boxwave True Bamboo iPhone 5 case right now on Amazon for a discounted 50% off for a limited time only. So hurry and work fast!

According to the research, 113 mobile phones are stolen or lost every minute in the U.S., alone. 40% of all the thefts that occur in New York…that’s right, if you guessed that they’re mobile phone related you wouldn’t be wrong.

Worse yet is that 70% of all handsets stolen on buses and subways are Apple’s iPhones. Bum deal for iPhone users relegated to using buses and subways.

Intel to Cut Power Consumption on Future Ivy Bridge Chips

Intel is presently at work reducing the power consumption of their Ivy Bridge chips so they can be sued in mainstream tablets.Intel has previewed its next-generation Haswell chips that push power consumption asto as low as 10 watts, but they are making the move to reduce power needs even before these Haswell chips hit the market.

In addition to tablets, reducing the power needs for the chips will also reduce the battery needs for small notebooks like the MacBook Air. With their future chips setting their sites on tablets, there are rumors that Apple could be considering them to replace Samsung’s A-series chips used in their tablets and phones.

Apple does seem dedicated to using their ARM-based chip design and Intel’s x86 chips power needs probably couldn’t be reduced as much as needed.

Apple is also said to have asked Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company to take over, but rumors says they’ve declined an exclusivity deal.

Microsoft Pressing Apple to Take Smaller Cut in iOS Sales

Apple has rejected the updated to Microsoft’s iOS SkyDive app because they aren’t paying Apple its 30% cut.Microsoft’s cloud based storage app wont be getting its update that allows users to purchase more storage through the app. The two companies are at serious odds over the commission fee. Microsoft has offered to removed all subscription options from the app, but no dice. This issue has spilled over into Office for iOS discussions.

Sources say that these negotiations have spilled over into subscriptions sold through Microsoft Office for iOS, which is expected to launch next year. Microsoft feels bringing its Office program would bring with it a significant value for the iOS platform and should get a discount on the fee. Apple is holding strong saying, “rules are rules.” They provided the following statement:

Apple provides customers and developers the largest selection and safest way to discover apps with our curated App Store. We’ve designed our rules to be fair and consistent for every developer — free apps and services are distributed for free, paid apps and services provide a revenue share to Apple. We’ve paid out over 6.5 billion dollars to our developer community who have created over 700,000 apps.

Will Office see the light of day now? Time will tell.

The iPhone Finder

For the gadget-savvy people who seem to take pride in knowing everything there is to know about gadgets, the same cannot be said about the way they forget where they place them. Forgetfulness is a common curse that many people endure. They can easily forget where they place their keys or other devices, sometimes taking so much time trying to find them. It is a good thing for iPhone users that there is a gadget called the iPhone Finder that would help them locate their smartphone easily.
The iPhone Finder is a keychain device that can be paired with your iPhone via Bluetooth. And with the iPhone running a free app, the iPhone Finder causes the phone to sound an alarm or vibrate by pressing a button on the keychain device. The device also maintains a constant wireless connection with the iPhone and will sound an alarm once the device and your iPhone is separated by more than 25′ apart. And if it is the keychain device that is misplaced, the app on the iPhone can also help you in locating it. The iPhone Finder is available at Hammacher Schlemmer for US$50.

Why There’s no iPhone 5 Jailbreak

The iPhone 5 seems to be a superior piece of tech and resistant to tampering. A combination of a new chip and a new OS is blocking efforts to jailbreak the system. That doesn’t mean many dev teams haven’t been plucking away at Apple’s new defenses.

All is not lost as the Chronic Dev Team thinks they are on the verge of having the answer. There is one slight problem. The jailbreak for the iPhone 5 is not available for the average consumer because it requires a developer account.
Chronic Dev Team member @planetbeing tweeted, “Upgraded the #failbreak with a kernel exploit so tweaks actually work on iPhone 5. Almost a full tethered JB, though need dev account.”

Given that we have managed to get behind the wall, even if just a little, a universal solution should be on its way down the pike.

Apple Talking With Foursquare Over Data-Sharing Deal

A new report claims that Apple is now in talks with Foursquare to integrates its local data into their Maps app. With Google’s huge success with their recently released Google Maps app, Apple is continuing to look for ways to improve its own map app efforts. Apple senior P Eddy Cue was brought in on the project specifically to shake things up, including making deals with companies that have experience and data in this field. Foursquare seems to be the new target with which they want to work with.

Foursquare could certainly help Apple’s woes with its social network boasting over 20 million users checking in to locations all over the world. Also, Apple could use Foursquare’s user ratings on various places to offer better search results.
Since its debut in September, Apple’s Maps has offered nothing but trouble to both the company and its customers. Previously reports indicated that Apple was in talks with TomTom and we have no reason to believe they still aren’t.

Man Shoots Craigslist Sellers For iPhone

A couple selling an iPhone over Craiglist found themselves on the wrong end of the transaction when the buyer pulled a gun on them and shot them for the iPhone.
According to the New York Daily News, the couple tried selling an iPhone over Craigslist when things went horribly wrong during the transaction phase.
A man and woman decided to meet the buyer in a McDonalds parking lot – and that could have been one of their problems right there – where they invited the buyer into their BMW to scope out the iPhone that he would be purchasing for the set price. However, things didn’t go over well and the man shot both the man and woman after a struggle and took their iPhone.
According to Lt. Andra Brown of the San Diego Police Department…
“The investigation is still ongoing,” … “There are still some issues with victims’ stories that we are checking out.”
The couple managed to drive themselves to the hospital after sustaining non-life threatening injuries, however the gunman and iPhone thief is still at large.
