Why There’s no iPhone 5 Jailbreak
The iPhone 5 seems to be a superior piece of tech and resistant to tampering. A combination of a new chip and a new OS is blocking efforts to jailbreak the system. That doesn’t mean many dev teams haven’t been plucking away at Apple’s new defenses.
All is not lost as the Chronic Dev Team thinks they are on the verge of having the answer. There is one slight problem. The jailbreak for the iPhone 5 is not available for the average consumer because it requires a developer account.
Chronic Dev Team member @planetbeing tweeted, “Upgraded the #failbreak with a kernel exploit so tweaks actually work on iPhone 5. Almost a full tethered JB, though need dev account.”
Given that we have managed to get behind the wall, even if just a little, a universal solution should be on its way down the pike.
