Weather Alerts Now Available For iPhone 5

The US National Weather Service will now issue alerts that will automatically appear for the iPhone 5 for those who have one, a feature that was absent from the handset in the past.

According to TUAW, the NWS didn’t originally support the iPhone smart devices but that all changed today when the alert for a Blizzard in the Denver, Colorado area came through loud and clear for the iPhone 5, letting the smartphone owners know that a weather alert was in effect.

Previously, iPhones weren’t supported by the US National Weather Service mobile alert system, and it certainly did put iPhone users at a disadvantage during weather emergencies. Having the ability to be warned about weather alerts is a great service for iPhone users to have.
